I guess there's no other discipline more devaluated than philosphy. For instance, this is supposed to be a joke; but i'm sure everyone think it's nothing but the truth: "The point of philosphy is to start with something so simple as not to seem worth stating, and to end with somethings so paradoxical that no one will believe it" (This is from Russell). I guess this joke is funny because it's partly true.

And here's another funny statement (because i'm sure nobody can believe it): "Philosophers seek the truth; they are not merely trying to provoke, or annoy, or say whatever they can get away with." (Even I'm laughing!)
